Meet Dennie: Supporting Your Journey Through Faith, Spirituality, and Life Transitions

Dennie Asbury, Intern Therapist at Mending Minds in Cedar City, Utah

Some seasons of life ask bigger questions than we have answers for.

A faith that once felt certain starts to shift. A belief system you were raised in no longer fits — or maybe it fits differently than it used to. A major life transition leaves you wondering who you are now, and what you actually believe.

These are some of the most sacred and tender experiences a person can walk through. And they deserve a space where they can be held with care — not rushed, not judged, not fixed.

That's the space Dennie creates.

About Dennie

Dennie is an intern therapist at Mending Minds who feels deeply called to support individuals navigating religious experiences, faith transitions, and spiritual exploration. Whether you're questioning, deconstructing, reconstructing, returning, or simply sitting with uncertainty, her goal is to walk alongside you — never ahead, never pushing — as you discover what feels true and meaningful to you.

Her approach is humanistic at its core. That means she leads with warmth, compassion, and an unwavering belief in your capacity to find your own answers. You don't have to arrive with a destination in mind. You just have to be willing to explore.

How She Works

Humanistic Foundation

Dennie centers your experience. You are the expert on your own life, and her role is to help you listen more deeply to yourself.

Somatic Experiencing

So much of what we carry — grief, fear, religious wounding, transition stress — lives in the body long before we have words for it. Dennie integrates somatic work to support the mind-body connection, helping you notice and release what's been stored in your nervous system.

Sand Tray Therapy

For those who process more fully through creative expression than conversation, Dennie is certified in sand tray therapy. It's a gentle, powerful modality that lets the deeper parts of you speak when words fall short.

Who Dennie Works Well With

  • Individuals navigating a faith transition, deconstruction, or shift in religious identity
  • People processing religious trauma or complicated spiritual experiences
  • Anyone exploring spirituality outside of a specific tradition
  • Clients in major life transitions — grief, identity shifts, empty nest, divorce, new chapters
  • People who want a therapist who honors the spiritual dimension of healing without imposing any framework

When She's Not in Session

You'll find Dennie outside in the sunshine — hiking the trails, traveling somewhere new, cheering on football, tucked into a good book, or spending time with her kids and grandkids. She brings that same warmth and groundedness into every session.
